Hughes Memorial Weekly Update -Tuesday, July 9

Memory Verse

"Defend the weak and the fatherless; uphold the cause of the poor
 and the oppressed."
 -Psalm 82:3

Thought For the Week
What are you doing to eradicate poverty?

Weekly prayer for the Homeless

LEVITICUS 25:35-36
If one of your fellow Israelites falls into poverty and cannot support themselves, help them as you would a stranger or temporary resident, so they can continue to live among you.  Do not charge interest or make a profit from them.  Instead, show your fear of God by letting them live with you as a relative.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus we come to You saying Thanks for all You have done and continue to do.  We come before you with a grateful heart.  You are so worthy of our praises and thanksgiving.  You tell us where two or more are gathered in Your name, there you will be.  So we come asking you to grant us giving hearts for those who are in need.  Lord Jesus let our heart break for those who hurt.  Please give us all a nonjudgmental spirit.  Let us care for those who are poor, hungry, broken and in need.  Jesus we are your willing vessel, use us as You will.  We repent for the times we turned away from the poor, we repent for the times we did not offer full support.  We repent for the time we have been silent against injustice.  Please forgive us in Jesus name.  We come to you asking you to use us any way you want for Your glory.  We are blessed to be a blessing and we know all things come from you.  Jesus for the immigrants, the orphans, the poor, use our voices to speak up for them and with them, let us speak with authority and boldness on their behalf.  Let our actions match our words.  We recognize when one hurts we all hurt.  We declare, we will go!  We will give!  We will Speak out against injustice!  We believe all things are possible with God.  Lord Jesus help us be Your light in our communities and everywhere we go.  We love you, We trust you, and We ask all these things in Jesus name.  Amen Sharon Milton, Emory Fellowship UMC
