Hughes Memorial Weekly Update -Tuesday, June 11

Memory Verse

"And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us."
 -Romans 5:3-5

Thought For the Week
God's love gives us the hope, character and endurance to overcome any trial or tribulation.

Weekly prayer for the Homeless

LUKE 4:18-19
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for He has anointed me to bring good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released, that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free, and that the time of the Lord's favor has come.

PRAYER: Almighty and most merciful God, we humbly thank you for loving and caring for us.  You have called us to bring good news to the poor but we confess that we have fallen short and have not done your will.  Forgive us, we pray.   Help us to face and release those things that are not of you.  Teach us to love as you love and to forgive so that we may be forgiven.  Give us generous hearts and spirits that we may see and respond to our brothers and sisters who are hungry, homeless, and in need of basic human services.  May our words and prayers match our deeds.  Help us to trust more fully knowing that you will bless our efforts and give us more than we ask for or imagine.  Reveal your truth to us and enliven and infuse our ministries with courage and boldness that will transform us and those we serve on your behalf.  May all we do be to your honor and glory.  We love you, we praise you and we bless your Holy name.     Amen.
